Visionaries of Presidium Pitampura presented an enlightening assembly to honour the legacy of Nelson Mandela, South Africa's former President and his values. Students trumpeted the message that each individual has the power to transform the world, the ability to make an impact, with full conviction. Students also undertook an activity of colourful fruits to explain the problem of apartheid and the importance of anti-racist world. Student motivated their acquaintances to follow core values set by Nelson Mandela like promote equality and help the poor. Students vowed to make every day a Mandela Day.

PRESIDIANS HONOUR THE GURUS FOR THEIR WISDOM ON GURU PURNIMA

On the occasion of Guru Purnima, the students of Grade 2 took great pride in convening the assembly as it provided them with an opportunity to thank all the Gurus. The assembly commenced with the shlok 'Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwar' followed by 'Guru Vandana' to pay tribute and seek blessings from Guru. Kabir's Dohas were recited which highlighted the importance of the Guru in our lives.They also shared the meaning of Guru by saying that Guru is a combination of two words- 'Gu' means darkness and 'Ru' means someone who removes darkness. A beautiful bhajan 'Guru mein sanskar samaya' was presented by the students which left the audience mesmerized. The assembly was concluded by the thought that Gurus are often equated with God and regarded as a link between the individual and the immortal.

FUN ACTIVITIES MAKE THE FIRST DAY AFTER VACATIONS MEMORABLE

Summer vacation is a time full of fun and frolic, for picnics, playing for long hours exploring new places and much more. After coming back from summer vacations, children were very enthusiastic about their new session. So, to make their spirits high of students of Presidium Pitampura, we planned some fun activities such as ‘fun with action’, ‘zig-zag crawling’, ‘step up & down’, etc. It was a wonderful sight to see them meet their friends after so long and enjoy the ice-breaking activities. The teachers warmly welcomed them and expressed how much they were missed. Wishing all the students good luck for an upcoming session filled with learning, exploration and achievements.

PRESIDIANS ENJOY A FUN-FILLED DAY AT A PARK

Play is essential for the development as it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children and youth. Playing outside gives children the chance to explore the natural environment and take on new adventures. Keeping the importance of play in mind, a field trip was organised by Presidium Pitampura for the students of Pre-Primary to a nearby park. Little Presidians played and enjoyed simple games like: Hide and Seek,Catch the ball, Follow the Leader and Make a Pass. These games not only taught young children about communication and teamwork but also developed their motor skills. Students also got to know the safety measures that should be kept in mind while playing. The children had a wonderful learning experience and were full of excitement to see the different species of plants.

TIPPI TIPPI TAP: PRESIDIANS INDULGE IN COLOURFUL ORIGAMI ACTIVITY

‘Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.’ To develop this love and passion for learning, creativity and out of the box methods are the key. Keeping in mind the creative aspect, the students of grade 3 created ‘Tippi Tippi Tap’ a paper game to help them know their friends better. They followed all the steps given in the origami book with the help of their teacher and made a colourful paper game.They wrote about their hobbies, favourite sport, favourite colour, food and dress on the inner side of each section. They used this paper game to effectively remember what they have created and how it helped them know their friends better. This activity indeed led to their socio-emotional development.

RECITATION COMPETITION: A SHOWCASE OF GREAT ARTICULATION & SKILLS

Experts in literacy and child development have discovered that ‘If children know eight nursery rhymes by heart by the time they’re four years old, they’re usually among the best readers by the time they’re eight.’ Understanding rhymes makes a child sensitive and reciting them makes them creative. Therefore, a Rhyme Recitation Competition was held in Presidium Pitampura for the Pre-Primary classes. The purpose of the competition was to instill a love for poetry and to develop recitation skills among the students. The children chose a variety of topics for their recitation like friends, nature, trees, flowers, teacher, school etc. The children made all the characters of each rhyme come alive. They enthralled their teachers and friends with their articulation and memory skills while reciting rhymes. It was an excellent opportunity for them to gain confidence through stage exposure.

BUDDHA PURNIMA: PRESIDIANS ADOPT THE TEACHINGS OF LORD BUDDHA

‘Words have the power to both destroy and heal. When words are both true and kind, they can change our world.’ Young Presidians took one more initiative to change the world by celebrating the birth and enlightenment of Lord Buddha.They organised a special assembly on Buddha Purnima in which they enlightened heir school mates with the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path of life. Students promised to practice the teachings Buddha in their life and to spread the message of being courteous.

MATHEMATICS ACTIVITY MAKES TOUGH CONCEPTS EASY FOR PRESIDIANS

Numbers are a fundamental way of describing the world. They are abstract in nature and is applicable for understanding a variety of situations. Place Value plays an important role in Mathematics and finding place values can often be confusing for students. So, To understand the magnitude of numbers, alleviate their confusion and make learning place value fun, students of Grade-1 were explained the concept through various hands on activities such as fun with ice cream sticks wherein students were divided into groups and were asked to create a number for example ‘36’ using these sticks. The second activity was conducted using the Ganit Mala where students were called one by one to create a number on the ganit mala. They were asked to show the number by counting the number of beads.
Lastly, they were given exposure through Dienes blocks. They were told that 10 Dienes Blocks can be replaced with the stick. So, they used it and started creating the numbers without taking much time as the concept was very clear to them. These hands on experience made the concept more simpler and fun filled. It worked as a good foundation for their understanding.

PRESIDIANS HONOUR THEIR ADORABLE MOTHERS ON MOTHER’S DAY

‘A Mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take.’ The students of Presidium Pitampura invited their mothers on the special occasion of Mother’s Day. Students presented a soul-stirring theatrical skit which exalted the mother as God, teacher, friend, philosopher and guide and emphasised the truth that a mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. A lot of performances were planned to honour and appreciate mother’s sacrifice. Students gifted fabric painted t-shirts, cards, special messages, sash, etc .all prepared by themselves. Mothers were mesmerised by watching diverse performances given by their children.The day ended with all mothers playing and enjoying various games and taking back fond memories of a day well spent.

Rabindranath Tagore was a multi-talented personality with a great desire to learn new things. His contributions to the Indian literature and music have been unforgettable. The people not only in West Bengal but also in all regions of the country remember his contributions on his birthday. He was a well-known poet, novelist, composer and visual artist. He was the first Asian to be awarded with the prestigious Nobel Prize for his momentous contributions to the Indian literature. Students of Presidium Pitampura celebrated Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti by reciting his famous poems. They shared his well known sayings and talked about his unforgettable journey of life. Rightly said, Tagore's legacy will always live on through his words!
