AN INSTERESTING ACTIVITY TO LEARN ABOUT BEAKS OF DIFFERENT BIRDS

I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand. The concept of beaks in different birds was recently taught to students of Grade 3 at the Bird Beak activity. The Presidians enjoyed the activity under EVS theme-Animals where they tried to pick marbles, sponge and wet rice just like birds eat their food. They used different tools like scissors, spoon and a pair of tweezers for picking the given materials. They understood the use of different beaks by different birds according to the food that they eat. No doubt, the best way to learn about anything is by doing it.

DUSSEHRA: PRESIDIANS DISCUSS WAYS TO COMBAT THE EVILS OF SOCIETY

Dussehra, a festival to celebrate the victory of good over evil, was celebrated in Presidium with a lot of religious zeal. The program began with a significant message on Dussehra.This was followed by a bhajan ‘Hey Ram’. Students were dressed as Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Ravan etc. A spectacular one-act Ramlila was staged by the students in which they presented the scenes from the banishment of Rama from Ayodhya followed by his victory over Ravana. They also talked about the modern evils present in our society like bullying, inequality, corruption, begging, child labour, no education for girls, family breakdowns, dowry, wastage of food and pollution. The aim of the assembly was to discuss and bring a change in the education field so as to inculcate good values and ethics in students and bring a transformation in society.

Mahatma Gandhi was the pioneer of truth and non-violence. He started the ‘ahimsa’ movement for the Indian freedom struggle. He played a very significant role in achieving India’s independence. Presidium celebrated Gandhi Jayanti addressing the life of Gandhiji, his role in the freedom movement and his teachings. Students were shown Gandhiji's photographs, his spectacles, his walking stick, and the spinning wheel or the charkha. The little Presidians dressed as Gandhiji in khadi and cotton kurta pajamas. The teachers shared thoughts on the Dandi March and the swadeshi movement with students.

World Tourism Day aimed to foster awareness of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic impact. A special assembly was organized by students of grades nursery to 3 to foster awareness about the importance of tourism. The assembly portrayed the various places to visit for pilgrimage, scenic beauty, history or architectural uniqueness.The concept of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ was beautifully showcased by the students which they not only enjoyed but also acknowledged its worldwide need and importance.

PRESIDIANS PERFORM A SPECIAL SKIT ON DAUGHTER’S DAY

'Children are a blessing, whether male, female or other. They should be cherished daily'. To be born as a child is a unique blessing itself and hence gives a reason to celebrate. National Daughter's Day is celebrated in India in honour of daughters and Presidium marked the day with great fervour. Students presented a theatrical skit in which they displayed the life of a girl and her bond with her father and how she grew up to become the pride of the family. The assembly was concluded stating the universal fact that without girls it is impossible to carry forward the legacy of any family.

WORLD OZONE DAY: YOUNG INTELLECTUALS CELEBRATED WORLD OZONE DAY

Earth without Ozone is like a house without a roof. In order to reflect on this statement and to create an awareness amongst the young students who will be the citizens of tomorrow Presidium Pitampura observed 'World Ozone Day' with enthusiasm. Through the assembly, students were given an insight into the importance of the ozone layer and the need to protect this fragile shield of gas which protects the Earth from the harmful Ultraviolet radiation. Further to mark the importance of the day, students were involved in various activities such as poster making, slogans, etc. At the end they promised that, ‘They will be a part of the solution, not a part of pollution.

TEACHER’S DAY: STUDENTS DEDICATED A SPECIAL ASSEMBLY TO TEACHERS

Next to parents, teachers may be the most influential figures we'll ever have in our lives. Presidium Pitampura dedicated an entire week in honour of the teachers! Whereas, on Teacher’s Day an awe inspiring assembly was held where children of grade 3 paid tribute to the nation builders.Teachers were escorted by students and with great honour were brought to the assembly area. A fun filled musical skit was presented by students of grade 3. Pseudo teachers of grade 6 experienced the fun of teaching in junior classes for one period. Beautiful badges and titles were given to all the teachers with due respect. Overall the day was so beautifully planned that teachers cherished it with sweet memories.
