Cotton plays an important role in the Indian economy as the country's textile industry is predominantly cotton-based. India is one of the largest producers as well as exporters of cotton yarn. Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab are the major cotton producers in India. Students of Grade 6 learned about the cotton fabrics in the chapter - Fiber to Fabric. They presented a report on the types of cotton fabrics produced in India and their properties and benefits. The purpose of the enrichment activity was to enhance their knowledge about different types of cotton fabrics and how the cotton industry helps in boosting the economy of India.
