"Women speaking up for themselves and for those around them is the strongest force we have to change the world.”
Women’s status in India has been changing since ancient times. It's a wonderful opportunity to teach students of Grade-7, about gender equality while covering the Social and Political Life chapter, Women Change the World. We discussed the methods of struggle that the women’s movement used like Campaigning and Raising awareness. They were also explained how learning the alphabet was so important to women like Rashsundari Devi, Ramabai, and Rokeya. We also talked about Laxmi Lakra and how she became the first woman engine driver for Northern Railways. They got to know about the power of women and learned about different women from different fields, who have contributed so much to the world. They vowed to make this world a beautiful place for women and their learning was visible through their creativity.
